Winspace SLC3 – 1799 €
With the SLC3, Winspace is thoroughly evolving its former SLC2.0. We are moving away from the simple category of the ultra-light frame to enter a much more comprehensive approach, where weight remains a strong selling point, without neglecting aerodynamics or rigidity.
On the scale, the work is impressive: 699 g in size M (unpainted), which is a real gain compared to the previous generation. But beyond the numbers, it is mainly on the road that the evolution is felt. The frame retains that sensation of immediate lightness on climbs, while offering extra rigidity in strategic areas. Result: accelerations are crisper, and the bike feels less “fragile” during hard efforts.
The addition of more advanced aero work also changes the game. Without going to extremes, the SLC3 becomes more versatile, capable of holding speed on the flats and remaining efficient as soon as the pace picks up. We are no longer looking at a pure climber, but rather a bike capable of handling different route profiles with consistency.
In terms of style, Winspace adopts a more classic, almost old-school aesthetic that contrasts with some current trends. Love it or hate it, the overall look remains elegant and timeless.
Ultimately, the SLC3 is gaining maturity. It remains demanding — as is often the case with very lightweight frames — but it corrects a good portion of the limitations that could be attributed to the previous generation. A logical evolution, and a rather successful one for those looking for a lightweight bike without sacrificing overall performance.
