Trifox WT11 wheels: Affordable access to carbon aero profiles

The Trifox WT11 wheelset positions itself as a pragmatic choice for transitioning from the world of aluminum to that of aerodynamic carbon. Built using Toray T800 carbon fibers, these rims feature a blunted toroidal profile with an external width of 25 mm and an internal width of 18 mm. This traditional geometry offers excellent crosswind stability while adapting perfectly to standard 700x25c or slightly larger tire setups.

The heart of the wheel relies on Trifox T11 aluminum alloy hubs, equipped with a classic 4-pawl freewheel system, renowned for its tool-free maintenance simplicity. Lacing is entrusted to 24 straight-pull stainless steel spokes from the renowned brand Pillar, ensuring the mechanical connection essential to withstand the stresses of Center Lock disc brakes.

T800 Clincher Construction: Made from Toray T800 100 % carbon composite with an elegant matte/UD finish. Please note: The rim’s internal structure uses traditional (hooked) beads for tubed tires, but it is not certified as Tubeless-Ready from the factory. It requires the application of a rim tape (included).

Trifox T11 hubs: Feature 2 sealed bearings in the front and 4 in the rear. The pawl-based freewheel produces a distinct and pleasing mechanical clicking sound when coasting, which is very popular with the community.

Modern axle standards: Designed for 12x100 mm front and 12x142 mm rear thru-axles, fitting almost all current disc-brake road bikes.

Drivetrain compatibility: Choice of cassette body: standard Shimano/SRAM HG (8, 9, 10, or 11-speed) or SRAM XDR (12-speed) available separately.
If you want to have 12-speed, they are not directly compatible.

Weight limit: The manufacturer recommends a maximum rider weight limit of 100 kg (220 lbs).

Weights logically vary depending on the selected profile height (manufacturer measurements within plus or minus 20 g):

40 mm profile: 1,570 g per pair (712 g front / 814 g rear)

45 mm profile: 1,542 g per pair (719 g front / 823 g rear)

50 mm rim profile: 1,558 g per pair (726 g front / 832 g rear) (Actual weight measured in test with rim tape: ~1,643 g)

60 mm profile: 1,696 g per pair (788 g front / 908 g rear)

My review of the seller

Trifox is a well-known historical Chinese direct-from-factory brand on Chinertown and Reddit. They offer a wide range of low-cost frames and peripherals. While the brand shines with its ultra-aggressive pricing and generally reliable delivery service with tracking, it positions itself in the entry-level segment. Factory-exit quality control can sometimes prove to be more inconsistent than with some higher-end Asian competitors (such as Elves or Winspace).

The seller's reassuring points: A secure purchase

  • 2-year warranty: A standard reassuring coverage to protect the buyer against potential structural defects of the rim.

  • Included accessories: The wheels are delivered ready to use with the rim tape installed as well as 4 replacement spokes and nipples (Pillar), a real plus for future maintenance.

  • Shipping and taxes: The brand has a good command of its global logistics channels, with delivery options that often limit surprises regarding customs duties upon arrival.

Points of attention regarding the seller: Details to monitor

  • Quality control variations: Feedback from specialized wheel builders (notably the famous technical teardown by Hambini) highlights potential irregularities in the uniformity of factory spoke tension on certain series.

  • Plain packaging: The wheels often arrive in a generic brown cardboard box with no specific branding, which reflects the brand's cost-conscious approach to logistics.

Who are the Trifox WT11 carbon wheels intended for?

The Trifox WT11 wheelset is particularly suited for beginner or intermediate cyclists who want to improve the look and aerodynamics of their bike without investing the price of the bike itself. With a weight hovering around 1,600 g, they perform best on flat terrain, rolling courses, and spirited training rides where their inertia helps maintain speed. They will also appeal to fans of traditional tire and inner tube setups who do not wish to switch to Tubeless.

My product review

The Trifox WT11 fulfill their main mission: offering the stiff behavior and the highly rewarding aerodynamic whistling of carbon for a price often below €350 (with the promo code). Despite a somewhat classic rim design (narrow by current standards and non-tubeless), they prove to be surprising in the field, turning out to be very comfortable, forgiving of road imperfections, and stable against the wind. A good "budget" option.

The positive points about the product: Its major strengths

  • Unbeatable value for looks and price: It is hard to find such affordable carbon disc wheels on the market.

  • Excellent vertical comfort: They filter vibrations and minor bumps in the asphalt surprisingly well, making long rides comfortable.

  • Simplified maintenance: T11 hubs that are easy to disassemble by hand, standard Pillar spokes that are easy to find and replace.

  • Freewheel noise: A distinct and metallic hub sound that gives the bike a very professional feel.

The negative points about the product: The technical compromises

  • No Tubeless compatibility: Impossible to mount them without an inner tube (a dealbreaker for some modern cyclists).

  • 18 mm internal width: A profile that is a bit narrow compared to the current trend (21 mm+), which «balloons» 28 mm or 30 mm tires a little more instead of aligning them perfectly with the rim sidewalls.

  • Spoke tension to be checked: For meticulous or heavy cyclists, it may be wise to have the uniformity of the spoke tension checked by a local bike shop after the first few kilometers.
